How much should one tip their casino host? Should this be done each visit, or as a gift once a year?

My host at a very prominent Las Vegas casino has been very good to me. Should I tip each time I visit or give a nice present once a year? Do hosts expect a tip?

A very delicate subject, it also depends on your relationship with the host. It’s very important to be discreet, as a "tip" or gift could violate company policy. If it’s a special occasion and/or you've asked for a lot of favors and your host exceeds your expectations, then a tip would be appropriate. However if it were a "regular trip" then I would say only if you win. As you get to know them, gifts are nice, as you get a "feel" for them and know what they like.

I think that a decent tip ($100-200) per trip is customary if you are high-stakes enough to warrant a host. I assume that you're not playing nickel slots or $5 BJ.

If your trip coincides with the holidays, double the tip or get him a nice tie (or perhaps a piece of jewelery if it's a woman).

If your playing cards for example you should give them about $1 each hand you win only. If you lose no tip.
