Where can I find a poker tournament event near where I live?

Question

I love playing poker, and have been playing online for the last couple years with house money. Now I want to find a live tournament near where I live. Where can I go to find information about tournaments in my area? I can't seem to find any good sites online. Thanks in advance for your response.

If you do not have any Card rooms near by, Charity poker events are sure to be around. Try googling hold em (your city here).

best place i would recommend, would be any casino within your area..or maybe there is a poker club or something like that in your area that has meetings you could try that out as well...i would also suggest getting together with some friends and playing home games, either a cash game or tournament style. but since your looking for tournaments, the casinos would be a good place to start, considering a lot of casinos hold daily poker tournaments.

Join a poker forum & read books, or become a fish (losing player) playing poker is fun but like anything you cant just expect to be good, lots of time & effort must be put in to learn how to be successful, its not by chance the same players repeatedly make the final tables, if you just play poker all you will do is repeat the same mistakes over & over without knowing what you are doing wrong, put some time into learning the game it will pay you in dollars. be lazy & just play, well you will soon be broke, Good luck Papa :)

Depends on what state ya live in. Here in Oh. we have "Benefit Tournaments" for a charity. Most are held at VFW or similar hall. Ask around. p.s. I LOVE THAT GAME!
